Best CBD Oil For Anxiety – Miracle Cure Or Hype?

Ten years ago, someone with depression would be given a bottle of paracetamol and a “get some fresh air” lecture. Insomnia is best sorted with a cup of tea and a bedtime story. 2020 is a little different.

Today, if these people are lucky, they’ll be referred to a psychiatrist for a prescription and told to take part in a “talking therapy”, if they want to continue to receive medical treatment. Therefore, we need to talk about CBD and its potential to treat depression and anxiety.

How is CBD useful for treating anxiety? Anxiety can be caused by a number of things – mostly this is due to imbalanced chemicals and hormones within the human body, and an outdated way of thinking.

These two cause the sufferer’s body to react with any number of not so pleasant symptoms; most commonly these are tense muscles, a quickened heartbeat and an intense desire to escape. Yet the sufferer does not necessarily feel like they are in danger, and cannot always explain why these reactions occur. This makes reacting to the anxiety quite difficult, and it is easy for the sufferer to end up locked in a vicious cycle, with feelings of anxiety becoming almost a default state.

CBD is able to produce harmonizing effects upon the body’s endocannabinoid system whilst reducing feelings of anxiety, fear, and paranoia. This is achieved through the release of the neuropeptide oxytocin, as well as better balancing of the hormones serotonin and GABA.

DO make sure you have CBD or tincture ready to use straight away. The effects are better felt if you take CBD when it is not a foreseen event.

DO try to give your body ample time to enjoy the positive benefits of CBD before the next dose.

DO consider that CBD is not a fast cure, but the results are long-lasting and can permit sufferers to get out of the vicious circle they are stuck in. CBD allows many to face their fears.

I talked to a local pharmacist here in Portland at a medical marijuana dispensary, and he mentioned that he’s been taking CBD products as a substitute for anti-anxiety medications. He says it helps him breathe more easily at night, relax his chest muscles, and breath more deeply so that he can relax more and go to sleep.

He also said that some of his customers had used it to minimize the headaches for coming off on a depressant, as well as taking CBD to minimize withdrawal symptoms for taking opiates. It obviously has many uses. Try CBD for anxiety, and you’ll experience it for yourself.

CBD has been produced and peddled since roughly the early 19th century, long before the introduction of anti-depressants and therapy sessions. CBD products for depression, social anxiety disorder (SAD) is not a new thing, even if it’s not a common thing either.

CBD has various mental health benefits. Thx to CBD it has a distinctly “self-medicating” feel to it. It’s easy to get online. If you’re in a position where you’re desperate enough to self-medicate, then maybe you are in a position where you are ready to at least give CBD a try.

Let’s get to our main topic here, which is CBD for anxiety. A while ago, I published an article called, “What Is Worse, Depression or Anxiety?” I mean, they’re both awful, aren’t they?

Still, a lot of you choose anxiety, and I can see why. When you are moderately or severely anxious, over time, you can’t function, stick to your routines, go out with friends, or work, and pretty soon, you’re not accomplishing anything – and that can be very depressing. So anxiety often turns into depression.

For those of you using anxiety prescription medications like benzodiazepines, you know that these can be habit-forming and side effects.

As a result, many psychiatrists in the United States are reluctant to prescribe them these days. That is why I became intrigued when some acquaintances told me that they were making use of something called CBD to bring down their anxiety, which I thought. Pain in the chest, high risk of high blood pressure and heart diseases are the results of anxiety.

Before I discuss my take on it, I want to give some basic definitions of what it is.

CBD is a natural compound found in both marijuana and hemp plants infused into a carrier oil, such as coconut or hemp seed oil. Because it contains less than 0.3% THC, which is the psychoactive component of marijuana, you can’t get high from it. So unlike pot, you don’t feel anything when you take CBD.

Things we Need to Talk About: Cannabis, CBD, Depression and Anxiety

How do we define depression? Depression, along with anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is s a serious medical condition that can have a profound effect on a person’s relationships, career, and overall quality of life. This is something we need to take seriously.

Furthermore, despite popping a couple of painkillers, finding a local therapist and getting out of the house, depression can still feel like a big old beast that has been hiding underneath the bed for far too long.

Although many people believe depression can be cured through the “power of positive thinking”, this idea has been thoroughly disproved by modern science and feminist activism.

Positivity isn’t enough, you need to dig deep and undertake a proper exploration into your current relationship with depression.

In short, depression isn’t about happiness, it’s about productivity. Take depression seriously, because it’s bloody serious.

CBD Oil and Anxiety: Cannabidiol as a Potential Treatment for Anxiety Disorders

A brief history of CBD and anxiety. So how did we get here? How did we go from barely acknowledging this thing existed, to being bombarded with endless adverts from the CBD oil industry promising to banish your depression in just a few short months?

CBD, as the internet effortlessly informs us, is extracted from the cannabis plant and is completely legal in most of the world. It’s used by healthy people sporty types that train in the gym and “do hot yoga”.

To use CBD for depression, you will need to ask yourself three questions:

  1. What are the benefits of using hemp derived CBD products for depression and anxiety?
  2. Are there any risks or side effects associated with using CBD oils?
  3. Does CBD oil for depression and anxiety help?

A quick point on the risks:

Unfortunately, any natural medicine carries a small risk of an allergic reaction. The general advice is that these allergy-like symptoms should go away after a few days. If you experience anything worse, it’s probably best to call the doctor.

In general, there are very few risks to using CBD oil. If you’re concerned, try doing some research on CBD and anxiety disorder.

Remember, don’t self-medicate and don’t take CBD oil if you’re planning on driving or operating heavy machinery. Are you using CBD to reduce your anxiety and depression? Do you think it really works? Are there any alternatives?

CBD (Cannabidiol) Reduces Anxiety – Scientific Approach

Using CBD Oil For Anxiety Miracle Cure Or Hype Scientific Approach

Cannabidiol Reduces the Anxiety Induced by Simulated Public Speaking in Treatment-Naïve Social Phobia Patients. [source]

While this research suggests that CBD oils may help those with anxiety, the evidence is not conclusive due to the lack of large-scale clinical trials. There have only been a few studies on small groups of people. The majority of CBD testing has been done on lab animals.

It shows that CBD may be able to alleviate social anxiety. In this study, 24 subjects who had a social anxiety disorder were given either 600mg of CBD or a placebo 90 minutes before completing a test that simulated public speaking. Twelve additional subjects with a social anxiety disorder were given the same test without CBD or the placebo. The results showed that those who used CBD before the public speaking test were significantly less anxious, cognitively impaired, and uncomfortable.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse says that “CBD has shown therapeutic efficacy in a range of animal models of anxiety and stress, reducing both behavioral and physiological (e.g., heart rate) measures of stress and anxiety.”

Best CBD Oil Dosages for Anxiety

CBD dosage seems to have a significant impact on how CBD affects those with anxiety disorders. CBD and THC, bind to special cannabinoid receptors in the brain. The anti-anxiety effects of CBD follow a bell-curve, a study published in Frontiers in Pharmacology suggests. A 300 mg dose of CBD seems to be the sweet spot, while 100mg and 900mg doses did not seem not to have a substantial effect. CB2 Receptors Primarily found in the peripheral nervous system, like your tissues and organs. These receptors are mostly found in the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.

Research is still being done on dosages for those with anxiety disorders. In some quantities, CBD has shown to cause depression as a side effect. Because half of the individuals with anxiety disorders are also diagnosed with depression, it’s important to be careful with dosages so that depression is not worsened. Always consult a doctor before taking CBD or any other dietary supplement.

How to Use CBD oil?

Well, you can try taking CBD oil for anxiety in many ways. It comes in numerous forms. I use a tincture, but you can also find it in pills, chewable gels, vape, cartridges, cream, and foods like chocolate.

That’s also how marijuana is often delivered. The amount of CBD oil in these products can vary greatly.

The next question I want to address is if CBD is addictive. Well no, not pure CBD. However, many of these products also have THC in them, per research I’ve done in pharmacies in Oregon and Washington.

These pharmacies say that a ratio of nine parts CBD to one part THC is very helpful because the THC increases the power of CBD oil.

Now, if you’re taking something like that and there’s THC, you might be affected.

So the key is to know what percentage of CBD and THC there is. If you’re not taking pure CBD derived from hemp, there are no addictive properties and no psychoactive properties. CBD interacts with the cannabinoids type 1 receptor (CB1R).

As a fairly new and little-understood cbd product, it’s important to learn as much as you can about CBD for anxiety and depression.

The next question that comes up is what conditions CBD can treat. If you will recall, it was used to help this girl with Trivette Syndrome epilepsy, and sure enough, it’s been researched for pain, as well. My brother takes it for pain inflammation, believe it or not.

It also supposedly helps people break addictions to cigarettes and drugs like heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine because it relaxes the muscles and makes people less anxious. For these reasons, people are looking to CBD for a variety of conditions.

I do know people who have taken it for pain, and a nurse I know who was quite involved in the alternative care industry here in Oregon says that a lot of her patients take it for pain.

CBD Oil As Anxiety Medication

We’re finally getting to the main topic in this article, which is CBD for anxiety. Now, when I first heard about this connection, I thought that this makes sense because the CBD is an anti-seizure medication, as we saw in the case of Charlotte.

Anxiety is a mental health disorder characterized by feelings of worry, anxiety, or fear that are strong enough to interfere with one’s daily activities. Does CBD Oil help anxiety? Yes. Cannabidiol CBD helps combat anxiety by interacting with the body. Attempting to treat anxiety and stress is vital for a healthy mind.

Examples of an anxiety disorder include panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Numerous types of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) post-traumatic stress disorder. Cannabidiol may alter serotonin signals, which play an important role in your mental health.

Symptoms include stress that’s out of proportion to the impact of an event, the inability to set aside worries, and restlessness. Treatment includes counseling or medications, including antidepressants. Physiological symptoms of anxiety, such as increased heart rate, also improved.

Klonopin, which is benzo that I used to take, essentially saved my life during one of my episodes. It is also an anti-seizure medication. Klonopin and anti-seizure medication do help with anxiety and anti-seizure.

Here’s a testimonial from one of my acquaintances who first turned me on to it. He said, “I’ve been experiencing quite a lot of anxiety due to stressors in my life. I was having a hard time sleeping. I started to take a dropper full at bedtime and again if needed. When I woke up early the next morning, the CBD greatly reduced my rumination, and it had a nice side effect of reducing joint pain, as well. I’ve never felt groggy in the morning after taking it. I highly recommend CBD for anxiety.”

How Do You Obtain CBD Oil That Works for Anxiety?

You can get it in any state in the U.S. except for Idaho, Nebraska, and South Dakota, as they ban all marijuana.

You can even get products from the hemp plant that are not psychoactive. As such, most of us can get CBD oil over the internet or from other sources.

I mentioned that THC helps make it more effective. However, if a CBD has some THC in it, you can only get it in states where medical cannabis or marijuana is illegal, which is much more limited. Still, CBD can be effective, and you’re much more likely to find it.

I have found that many people are using it effectively. I’m advocating you do so. You should check with your doctor to make sure it’s not going to interact with any medications you’ve been taking adversely. You can also try CBD while you’re on other prescription medications.

However, I did call the pharmacy and what they tell their customers is that, as long as you don’t take the CBD at the same time that you’re taking your other drugs and maybe wait two to three hours, then there shouldn’t be a concern but again the final authority is your physician.

More Studies on CBD Oil for Anxiety

According to a study conducted on animals with arthritis pain, the topical utilization of CBD oil facilitated lower rates of inflammation and pain. Another animal study discovered the benefits of CBD for neuropathic pain and chronic inflammation. The authors found evidence to support the use of CBD as an effective monotherapy or complementary.
