What Is CBG Oil?

In the first two installments of this series on the chemistry of cannabis, “CBDA vs. CBD: What Are the Differences?” and “THCA vs. THC: What Are the Differences?,” we explained how all of the cannabinoids present in marijuana are derived from cannabigerolic acid (CBGA).

As the cannabis plant matures, plant enzymes convert CBG Acid (the acid form) into a mix of the three major cannabinoid precursors: tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA), cannabidiolic acid (CBDA), and cannabichromene acid (CBCA).

CBG is formed through decarboxylation of the quantities of CBGA not converted into these precursors or any of the other minor cannabinoids.

Due to this process, cannabis strains ordinarily contain very little CBG, often less than 1 percent by weight. To obtain higher yields of CBD in marijuana, specialist plant breeders have begun experimenting with genetic manipulation and crossbreeding.

Leafly reports that scientists have also successfully pinpointed the optimum extraction window for cannabis in order to preserve the highest amounts of CBG, recommending extraction around six weeks into an eight-week flowering cycle.

CBG is usually found at a concentration of about 1% or less in most cannabis strains. Interest in CBD is starting to grow among health-concerned consumers and the medical community.

CBG is a phytocannabinoid. Unlike THC, neither CBG nor CBD have any psychoactive effects.

CBG is actually one of the first cannabinoids to form in hemp as the plant develops and matures.

CBG is sometimes referred to as the “stem cell” of all hemp. It occurs in higher concentrations during the development of hemp plants, usually as CBGA.

Enzymes break down CBGA into THCA, CBDA, and CBCA.

CBG has antipsychotic, antidepressant, and bone-growth stimulating properties.

In turn, linallor, a terpenoid found in lavender, seems to interact with CBD and CBG to treat anxiety. CBC and CBG also exhibited synergistic effects with another terpenoid, a caryophyllene oxide of a natural compound present in lemon balm. This acts as an antifungal as effective as popular drugs that are available. CBGA also has synergistic properties with terpenoids found in a lemon balm that acts as an insect repellent, making it a promising alternative for protecting crops and vegetables from insects and parasites.

What Is The Difference Between CBD Oil And CBG Oil? Research On CBG Oil

Research on CBG provides promising results for numerous therapies. However, since CBG is present as an intermediate with a relatively low concentration in the plant, the therapeutic use of CBG oil may be limited by the small amounts of the compound obtained from hemp removal. Fortunately, thanks to the refining culture, we recently managed to obtain cannabis chemotypes where the appropriate enzymes were eliminated, so 100% of phytocannabinoids were expressed as CBD.

Recently, it was found that CBG has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties (including those affecting Staphylococcus aureus); it also exhibits moderate antifungal activity. Numerous studies suggest possible synergistic effects of CBD with terpenoids. Terpenoids work quite powerfully. They show a unique healing effect that can significantly contribute to the so-called synergy effect of hemp-based medicinal extracts. For example, limonene has been shown to interact with CBG and CBD, boosting the apoptosis process, the terpenoids present in CBD.

Limits To CBG Knowledge

We still know very little about the beneficial effects of CBG. It has been confirmed, however, that it occurs in a high concentration primarily in industrial hemp, and the promising study to date means that breeders are looking to increase the amount of CBG in hemp. In fact, CBD is a precursor to three main branches of cannabinoids: tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA), cannabidiolic acid (CBDA), and cannabichromenic acid (CBCA). Each hemp plants has natural enzymes, called synthases, that CBGA breaks down into one of these three branches. The plant’s synthases (for THC, CBD, and CBC) are named after the cannabinoid that they help create. This process is known to occur through a recessive gene.

Did You Know That CBG Stimulates Neurogenesis?

What else does CBG offer? It might slow down the growth of bacteria or even kill them. It is perhaps the only cannabinoid that stimulates neurogenesis, i.e., the formation of nerve cells; it has been classified by researchers as a CB1 receptor antagonist that affects the central nervous system. Therefore, it is believed that CBD partially counteracts the paranoid states sometimes caused by THC. Preliminary studies also show that CBD affects CB2 receptors, but it is not yet known whether CBG promotes or inhibits this receptor.

This sliver of CBG research has sparked hope among those with autoimmune disorders. Further results are needed to confirm and expand on the therapeutic uses of CBD oil.

CBG oil is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, similar to CBD.

It has excellent health properties. It has, above all, antipsychotic, antidepressant, and bone growth stimulating properties.

Our CBG oil was third party Lab-tested. For this purpose, special enzymes were used to stop hemp growth and harvest their crop in the form of raw CBGA and NOT “mature” CBDA. The oil is extracted with CO2 extraction under appropriate conditions.

We care about its highest purity and high quality, and we also try to keep the lowest possible price for the consumer.

We have a separate analysis for each product, which shows that the product has a guaranteed content of ingredients, does not contain any heavy metals and is clean and free of GMOs, herbicides or molds, and fungi.

CBG Oil: The Facts

Most people are familiar with CBD oil these days, which is understandable as every TV station, news outlet, and social media feed are constantly chattering on about it. But you may not have heard much about its amazing little brother CBG.

What exactly is CBG oil?

Like its brother CBD, CBG is a cannabinoid compound that naturally occurs in both the marijuana and hemp plants. CBD and CBG aren’t alone and there are more than one hundred different cannabinoid compounds found in the hemp family of cannabis plants.

What are the benefits of CBG oil?

Researchers have stated that there are many potential benefits to CBG oil. Here are a few in a little more detail:

  • Antibacterial properties: Researchers have found that CBD has antimicrobial properties that can fight off bacterial strains, including potent ones like MRSA.
  • Anti-inflammatory properties: It has long been known to ease symptoms of inflammation caused by conditions like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), colitis, and irritable bowel disease (IBS).
  • Anxiety and depression: It can help with depression and anxiety as it inhibits the body’s ability to absorb serotonin, the hormone that regulates moods.
  • Cancer beating properties: CBG has been proven to kill bowel cancer cells and is suspected of inhibiting the growth of other cancer cells in the body. This gives anti-tumor properties.
  • Neuroprotectant: It can help prevent cognitive decline and may be able to help combat serious neurological condition like Huntington’s, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Does CBG help anxiety?

Just like CBD, CBG is thought to help with anxiety and depression. Experts believe that CBD has a positive effect on the serotonin receptors in the brain. While it will not increase the levels of serotonin (the happy hormone) it increased your brain’s response to the levels already in your system.

What is CBC and CBG?

CBC and CBG are both phytocannabinoids found in the hemp plant. When cannabinoids are taken together the different compounds will enhance the effects of each other and can lead to various other health benefits that you will not get when they are taken alone. This is known as the entourage effect. Generally speaking, CBG and Cannabidiol are alike, both interact with the endocannabinoid system.

CBC is an additional non-psychoactive cannabinoid that bears a host of positive therapeutic qualities similar to CBD. When combined CBC and CBG work together to offer higher health benefits than when taken separately.

Is Cannabigerol a controlled substance?

Cannabigerol is not a controlled substance in the U.S. so long as it is not created from the parts of the marijuana plant that are restricted. This makes CBG oil completely legal to consume.

What is CBGa cannabinoid?

Cannabigerolic acid (CBGa) is the compound from which all other cannabinoids in the plant derive. Without at least a small amount of Cannabigerolic acid, none of the other cannabinoid compounds (CBD, CBG, CBC, etc) would exist.

CBGa is the foundation of the hemp flower and will convert into the key cannabinoid compounds: THC, CBD, and CBC. It may also convert to CBD in the right conditions but in most strains of the hemp plant this is unlikely. This is why CBD is often found in incredibly low levels in most plant strains.

Is CBD or CBG better?

Before we answer that question, let’s look at the similarities. Both CBG and CBD are nonintoxicating cannabinoids that won’t make you high. They also interact with the same receptors in your brain and body and have similar effects and cbg cbd health advantages.

CBD, however, does seem to have a few extra health advantage that CBD doesn’t, such as a better anti-anxiety property, better neuroprotection, and it may even promote stronger bones through bone marrow growth stimulation.

What is CBG oil good for?

As mentioned earlier, Cannabigerol oil is good at fighting inflammation, easing pain, preventing nausea, and slowing (maybe even destroying) cancer cells. Studies also suggests that it can help reduce eye pressure caused by diseases like glaucoma, thus promoting ocular health.

Does CBG make you sleepy?

Evidence suggests that CBG can help you relax and may help promote better sleep. It doesn’t, however, promote sleep and has no real sedative effective on the body. In fact, some people who’ve taken the compound have reported that they feel a boost of energy after consuming it.

What is the difference between CBG and CBGa?

Cannabinoids come in two types – acids and non-acids. CBD and THC are non-acids, whereas CBDa and THCa are their acidic forms. This is the same for CBG and CBGa. In general, the form is found in the raw parts of the plant and the non-acidic form occurs when the plant is introduced to heat.

Both CBGa and CBG offer a variety of health benefits but the main difference is in how you introduce the compounds into your body. While CBG can be found refined in CBG oil for easy consumption, CBGa is generally consumed in its raw form by ingesting hemp directly.

Can you take CBD and CBG together?

As mentioned previously, you can take CBG and CBD together and may even benefit from a range of extra health properties due to the Entourage Effect. The Entourage Effect is a term to describe how cannabinoids when combined offer a range of beneficial health benefits above what they would when taken independently.

Is CBD or CBG better for anxiety?

While both CBG ad CBD display strong anti-anxiety properties, CBG is generally thought to work better due to the way it binds to certain endocannabinoid receptors in the brain. CBG is considered to be the precursor to other cannabinoids. . CBD has an intensified response within the physical body and is great at relieving issues such as inflammation and pain. CBD, on the other hand, is more effective on the neurological areas of the body and displays strong anti-depressive and anti-anxiety properties as well as working as a muscle relaxant. CBG has also been shown to increase levels of dopamine in the body which supports anxiety, sleep, and appetite. Cannabigerol CBG is one of the major cannabinoids found in most marijuana varieties.

Is CBG legal in all states?

Unlike CBD, CBG has not been approved as a drug, and the FDA openly acknowledge that “parts of the marijuana plants that do not contain THC or CBD… fall outside the scope of the [drug exclusion rule].” This takes CBG products outside the purview of the controlled substances authorities. Indeed, CBD is often seen as a food or dietary supplement and not a marijuana extract. CBD with less than 0 3 THC is the legal amount in the US

The 2018 Farm Bill makes it lawful to produce hemp and extract compounds for medical and other use CBG. These two facts make CBD completely legal as it stands in the U.S.

Outside America, the U.N. Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs of 1961 allows no provision to control or prevent the removal or sale of CBG. This makes CBD legal in other parts of the world too.

Can you buy CBG oil?

Of course (we wouldn’t be writing this guide if you couldn’t). CBD is available in oil format from many locations across the country as well as from a variety of online stores.

How much does CBG oil cost?

The price of CBG oil on its own can vary but will normally cost anywhere from $10 (usually for 5ml) to $80+ depending on the size of the bottle bought and the high quality/strength of the product. You can also often find CBD combined with other cannabinoids and the price of these CBD products can be higher. At this time, the majority of CBG products are going to be in the form of CBG tincture oils. Make sure to pay attention to the actual CBG content.

What are the side effects of consuming CBG?

There is limited research on the side effects of Cannabigerol, but initial findings suggest that it is easily tolerated by most people and has little toxic properties. When taken in normal doses consumption causes few serious issues. If you are unsure of how CBD could affect you, then it may be wise to consult a doctor before taking it. It is recommended taking no more than a few drops of a CBG tincture once or twice a day.

Common mild side effects that have been recorded in a small number of cases include mild nausea, bladder or groin pain (mild), a loss of appetite; urine leakage or incontinence; constipation, diarrhea, and tissue (not blood) particles in urine.

Will CBG show up on drug test?

Cannabigerol if consumed in the form of an isolated cannabinoid (as found in CBG oil) will not show in a drug test. General drug screening does not look for CBG and Cannabidiol is focused on the more psychoactive THC. If you consume CBD from a full spectrum cbg marijuana-based product (which is likely to contain THC), then this may show up but not because of the levels of CBG in the product. Alternatively, you can try using CBG isolate powder as a food or drink additive.

What strains are high in CBG?

Research into which strains of hemp are high in CBG is sparse but there does seem to be a general consensus that the following strains are better for CBG:

  • White CBG: White CBG is a popular CBG offspring, with virtually no THC (unlike its hemp cousin).
  • Jack Frost CBG: Jack Frost CBG is a new strain developed by the Oregon Seed Co which is a cross between White Widow, Jack Herer, and Northern Lights. It is generally considered one of the best strains available
  • Stem Cell CBG: This was one of the first hemp strains made commercially available and is still popular today.

It’s good to know that CBG has no psychoactive effects. My brother was telling me to try it out. I don’t want to get that high effect but rather just use it to calm down.

  3. So true!! Thank you for that advice!!

  4. Avatar William Luis says:

CBD have faster results than others.CBD stays active in your system about about 6 hours so dosing 2 or 3 to times a day will give better results.

So you would advise CBD instead of CBG?

  5. Upon further review I think CBG should be taken in the morning instead of night. It can keep you up. My wife tried it last night and she did sleep well.

  6. CBD vs CBG for pain and stiffness? For those who have tried both, which is stronger for pain / stiffness / inflammation?

  7. For the Biomd – top quality and very good service
